I was walking near Circle K on Jl. Diponegoro in Denpasar when a man in his late 20s, wearing a red shirt and a ponytail, suddenly kicked me hard in the shin. He didn't say a word, just kept walking. This wasn't an accident; it was a deliberate and unprovoked assault. The attack left a nasty bruise, and I'm still feeling the pain. This incident is particularly jarring because I've lived in Indonesia for five years and traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the Middle East for over twelve years. I've never experienced anything like this before. The attacker didn't appear to be under the influence of drugs or mentally unstable; he looked completely normal. It's also worth noting that my neighbors have been incredibly welcoming since we moved in. My wife is currently visiting her mother in Bandung, but we plan to contact our landlord and explore options, including reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby Circle K. This random act of violence has shaken me, and I'm sharing my story to raise awareness about personal safety in the area. While this is an isolated incident, it serves as a stark reminder to stay vigilant. Have you had any similar experiences in Denpasar or other parts of Indonesia?
