Bus out of Phuket, do I need to catch it at the terminal or is there another stop?

Getting a bus from Phuket to Ranong. The bus terminal is north of old town, but I'm staying on the western side, is there another place I can get the same bus on the island, or it is necessary to go to the terminal only?
