Bali Taxi Mafia: My Terrifying Port Pickup!

My Bali trip took a terrifying turn before I even set foot on land.  I'd heard whispers about the infamous taxi mafia at the ports, but nothing prepared me for the aggressive onslaught.  The moment I disembarked the Golden Queen Fast Boat, I was swarmed by shouting men, all vying for my business.  Despite having a pre-booked shuttle, these guys insisted they were officially affiliated with the boat company – a blatant lie, as they didn't know our names or destination.  Their harassment escalated; they tried to snatch our luggage and ignored our repeated pleas to leave us alone.  It was incredibly intimidating and frankly, terrifying.  I finally managed to escape to the boat company office to find my legitimate driver.  This experience highlights a serious issue for tourists in Bali.  Always book your transport in advance through reputable companies and be assertive in declining unsolicited offers.
