Road closures for New Years Countdown in Bangkok?

Hello friends: anyone know where I can find details on the above? 

Some family are staying at Ratchadamri area, and was told by the driver about Central World Countdown- which might entail jams and closures. 

Is there anyone i could confirm this with since they’re flying out on 31st actually! Don’t want them stuck in the festivities just coz they’re staying at Lumphini!
