Phuket or Beyond? Thailand Family Getaway with a 1-Year-Old

Planning a January trip to Thailand with our 1-year-old?  We're leaning towards Phuket due to convenient connections, but the reputation as a Russian party hub has us wondering... Is there a quieter side to Phuket, perfect for a family? We're looking for a low-key hotel or bungalow near a beach with grassy areas (sand-eating prevention is key!), and easy access to delicious Thai food.  Any recommendations for chill spots in Phuket, or should we consider Krabi or Koh Samui instead?  These islands are trending for family-friendly vacations offering stunning beaches, calm waters perfect for toddlers, and a plethora of kid-friendly activities like boat tours, elephant sanctuaries (ensure ethical practices!), and cooking classes.  We prioritize a relaxing atmosphere, yet still want access to good quality accommodation and delicious food.  Your insights on finding the perfect balance between tranquility and Thai cultural experiences are greatly appreciated!
